It was a bad period and I didn't played for years for reasons. Recently, I decided to take back my guitars and treat myself with a new entry, I always wanted a short scale bass so I thought "this is the right time". My choice fell on the Squier Sonic series Bronco Bass in Tahitian Coral finish but, as you can see, the colour is completely different from what Fender/Squier advertise: instead of an orange pastel finish, the bass is a sort of Barbie pink/ '80s toy-like pink. The neck is wonderful, a velvet-like satin finish without any single sharp fret, maybe just a bit bright almost white for a maple neck/fretboard. What really impressed me is the pickup. I swapped the white cover with a black one and I consider to shield the pickguard and the electronic space as soon as possible because of some hum and ground noise but man, that strat single coil growls: it's fantastic and the sound can be changed just with the tone knob, from a well-rounded fat sound with the tone completely closed to a bright, rattling one but always well present and "bassy" (keep in mind that this is a guitar pickup single coil in a bass guitar so I expected to have a poor sound quality as many said in different posts, sites and forums).
For now, I'm really happy with it, not a big fan of pink but I think that I'll keep it as it is (besides the other choices are black with laurel fretboard or a boring arctic white finish with maple fretboard, if you don't consider the rare limited editions), maybe I'll put a racing stripe in competition Mustang style and change the knobs with some jazz bass/Mustang bass style. I really wanted a Squier Mustang bass but in 2024 the price for a new one is over-400€ where I live and I couldn't justify an expensive purchase with the limited amount of time that I have to play my instruments, we are humans and there are other necessities and not everyone plays guitar/bass for work. If you want a cheap Fender style short scale bass, you can't go wrong with the Bronco bass.
P.s. Does anyone know how to remove those knobs to put some Mustang style ones? There are no screws around them and I don't know how to remove them.
